The Granby Early Childhood Council (GECC) is a collaborative of diverse individuals whose interest is the well-being of all children pre-birth to age five. We advocate for policies and practices which ensure that "all children arrive at school healthy and socially and emotionally prepared for academic success and life-long learning."

Our #1 goal is to have all children arrive into kindergarten healthy and socially and emotionally prepared for academic success
and life-long learning.
To achieve this, we will:
- Increase community awareness and understanding of the importance of early child care and education in order to create a common public goal.
- Support and empower parents as their child's first teacher and advocate with a continuum of parent engagement opportunities.
- Enhance the capacity of all care givers to provide quality developmentally appropriate care of young children through professional development opportunities.
- Effectively partner with the school's kindergarten team to create a successful transition from the early childcare environment to kindergarten.
Do you know that "95% of a person's skills are developed within the first 5 years of their lives?"
|
Encourage your child to be organized by giving them a place to store their belongings. A special hook to hang up their coat, or a basket by the door to store their shoes or boots. |

Farmington Valley YMCA is the collaborative agent
of the GECC.
